The Client
JourneyLife: Danish-Designed Luggage and Travel Accessories
JourneyLife is a Danish travel brand based in Horsens. They sell their own Explorer suitcase series alongside accessories including neck pillows, sleep masks, and luggage tags. The Explorer range is built from 100% polycarbonate, ships in three sizes, and is designed to meet Ryanair’s 55x40x20 cm cabin limit. The brand has collected over 1,000 five-star reviews on Trustpilot. Despite strong reviews and growing sales, JourneyLife had almost no presence when travellers asked AI assistants which luggage to buy.
THE CHALLENGE
A Strong Product, Invisible to AI Buyers

Zero AI Mention Baseline
At the start of the campaign, JourneyLife had 0 AI mentions and only 3 citations. When travellers asked an AI assistant for luggage recommendations, JourneyLife did not appear. The brand had no presence in the citation data that AI systems use to generate answers.

New Brand in a Crowded Category
The luggage market has well-established brands with years of editorial coverage and review placements. AI models favour brands with strong citation histories. JourneyLife had neither the content volume nor the external references needed to appear in AI product recommendations.

Content Not Structured for AI Queries
Luggage buyers ask AI assistants about specific dimensions, materials, and airline rules. Answering those queries requires content structured around how buyers ask questions. For a new brand with no editorial history, that gap directly blocked citation growth.

Differentiators Not AI-Citable
JourneyLife’s Cleanhub sustainability programme and 5-year warranty set it apart from competitors. But brand strengths only get cited by AI systems when they exist as structured, fact-specific content. Without that structure, they don’t appear in AI responses.
Our Approach
Building a Citation Foundation From the Ground Up
Our strategy for JourneyLife was built on one insight: a new brand has to earn its first citations before it can grow them. We focused on building the content structure and external reference points that AI systems need before they will surface a brand in product recommendations.
Product Content Structured for AI
Luggage buyers ask AI assistants about dimensions, materials, and airline rules. The priority was making JourneyLife’s product attributes easy for AI systems to extract and cite. Specs buried in marketing copy don’t get picked up. Specs presented clearly do.
Query-Matched Knowledge Content
Travellers ask AI assistants specific questions: what are the cabin size rules for Ryanair, how does a TSA lock work, what is polycarbonate. Content that answers one question completely gets cited. Content written as brand narrative does not.
External Placements to Seed Citations
At zero citations, the problem is not ranking below competitors. It is not registering at all. Getting into luggage roundups and gear comparison lists creates the third-party references that AI systems draw on when recommending products. That is how a new brand enters the picture.
Differentiators Made Citable
JourneyLife’s sustainability programme and 5-year warranty are real differentiators. They only become citable when documented as structured, fact-specific content. Differentiators that exist only in brand copy do not get cited by AI systems.

“JourneyLife now has a citation presence it can build on. Every new content asset and external placement adds to a foundation that puts the brand inside AI luggage recommendations it was absent from entirely.”
Actionable Insights
What New D2C Travel Brands Can Learn From This Campaign
Zero Is a Harder Start Than Low
A brand with some citations can grow them. A brand with none has to establish basic presence first. For new D2C brands, the first GEO priority is getting cited at all, before worrying about citation volume or quality.
Specs Are Citations Waiting to Happen
Dimensions, materials, and compatibility details are what AI systems extract when answering product queries. Brands that present specs clearly get cited. Brands that bury them inside product descriptions do not.
Third-Party Placements Build AI Trust
Differentiators Need Structured Content
A warranty, a sustainability programme, a design standard are only AI-citable when documented as specific, verifiable facts. If a differentiator only exists as brand narrative copy, AI systems will not cite it.
