The Client

BedJet: Climate Comfort Technology for Better Sleep

BedJet makes bed climate control systems that allow sleepers to set personalised temperature zones directly in their bed. Sold direct-to-consumer across North America, the brand competes in a category where purchase decisions are increasingly initiated through AI rather than search. When a consumer asks an AI what the best bed cooling solution is, or how to stop night sweats, the brands mentioned in that response have a structural head start on every other discovery channel.

THE CHALLENGE

A Recognised Brand With an Invisible AI Presence

Absent From AI Sleep Recommendations

Despite genuine brand recognition in the sleep tech space, BedJet was not consistently appearing in AI-generated responses to sleep product queries. When consumers asked LLMs about bed cooling systems, temperature regulation, or night sweat solutions, the responses surfaced brands with stronger citation networks rather than the brand with the most relevant product.

Category Dominated by High-Citation Competitors

The sleep and bedroom product category is crowded with brands that have deep editorial coverage across health, wellness, and lifestyle publications. Those accumulated citations function as trust signals that AI systems draw on when forming recommendations. BedJet’s citation baseline at the start of the campaign was insufficient to compete consistently with incumbents who had been building that coverage for years.

Low AI Visibility Score Despite Product Strength

BedJet entered the campaign with an AI visibility score of 26 out of 100, placing it in the low tier across all measured platforms. A score at that level means the brand is rarely surfaced in LLM outputs relative to competitors, regardless of how well-matched the product is to a given query. Product quality alone does not translate into AI recommendations without the underlying citation infrastructure to support it.

Sleep Queries Span a Wide Intent Range

Consumer questions in the sleep space are fragmented across symptoms, solutions, product types, and use cases: hot sleepers, menopause-related night sweats, couples with different temperature preferences, and general sleep quality concerns. Without citation-ready content mapped to that full range of intents, BedJet was invisible across the majority of the queries where it had a direct solution to offer.

Our Approach

GEO for Sleep Tech: Building the Mention Density AI Systems Act On

Our strategy for BedJet was built on one insight: in the sleep product category, AI mention volume follows editorial surface area. We focused on expanding the number of sleep intents where BedJet had a citeable, authoritative answer, targeting the symptom and solution clusters where AI query volume was highest and brand coverage was thinnest.

Sleep Intent Mapping Across Query Types

We mapped the full landscape of AI queries in the sleep and bedroom comfort category, from symptom-led searches like night sweats and overheating to solution-led searches like bed cooling systems and dual-zone temperature control. Each cluster was assessed for AI citation volume and BedJet’s existing coverage. Gaps between the two became the content priority list.

Citation-Ready Content Across Sleep Intents

We built structured, extractable content for each priority intent cluster: clear problem framing, specific product relevance, and claims grounded in sleep science context. Each page was written to be cited, not just found. AI systems pull from content that answers a specific question with a specific answer. Generic brand content does not earn citation events regardless of how frequently it is indexed.

Editorial Presence in Sleep and Wellness Verticals

We identified the editorial properties that AI platforms draw from most heavily when answering sleep product queries, including sleep health publications, wellness roundups, and expert-backed product guides, and executed a targeted placement programme to earn BedJet citations across them. Priority went to properties already demonstrated to influence AI mention outputs in the sleep and bedroom category.

Actionable Insights

What Sleep Tech Brands Can Learn From This Campaign

AI Sleep Recommendations Follow Editorial Surface Area

When a consumer asks an AI what the best bed cooling system is, the response surfaces brands that appear across the editorial properties AI systems have already cited on that topic. Brand awareness and product quality are not factors in that selection. Only editorial citation presence determines which brands get named.

Mention Volume Compounds Into Category Authority

Each AI mention event reinforces the signal that a brand is relevant to a given sleep intent. Brands that accumulate mention volume early in a category build a compounding authority advantage because AI systems are more likely to cite what they have already cited. Waiting to invest in AI visibility means competing against an increasingly entrenched citation graph.

Sleep Buyers Research With AI Before They Browse

Sleep tech is a considered purchase. Consumers ask AI questions about symptoms, causes, and solutions before they visit any brand website. The brands recommended at that research stage have a significant conversion advantage over brands encountered for the first time during product browsing. AI visibility is not a top-of-funnel metric for sleep tech. It is a purchase-path asset.

GEO Reaches Buyers Paid Search Cannot

Consumers consulting an AI assistant about sleep solutions are not using a search engine. Paid search, shopping ads, and retargeting have no reach into that interaction. The only way for a sleep tech brand to appear in that moment is through the citation and mention infrastructure that GEO builds. For sleep product categories with high AI research intent, GEO covers the discovery channel that every other paid tactic misses.
